The Silos Studios at Sawyer Yards is pleased to present An Artist’s Work, an exhibition of artworks by local artists, juried by longtime Houston artist and educator, Patrick Palmer. On view from September 5th - November 7th, the exhibition celebrates the creative voices of artists working in the Greater Houston Area, and invites them to share works that reflects the spirit, complexity and character of being an artist, the experience of making things, and the perspectives that shape their practice. The selected works that explore a wide range of subjects including identity, play and process, curiosity, resilience, connection, and transformation. Together, these individual perspectives create a collective portrait of the contemporary artistic experience.
About the Juror: Patrick Palmer is a local artist working and teaching in the Houston area. He is the current Dean of The Glassell School of Art at the Museum of Fine Art, Houston. Patrick earned a BA from the University of California/Santa Barbara in 1977 and an MFA from Arizona State University in 1979. Palmer has been teaching at The Glassell School of Art, MFAH for over 34 years and has been dean for over 14 years. Throughout his 50+ years of painting, Palmer placed works in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NY, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and many other prestigious museum and university collections. His current works often examine the theme abstracted figures/heads, and the psychological intrigue of quiet portraits.
