About the Artist / Curator: Valeria Llamosa, also known as VIII, is a Houston-based Mexican artist whose work bridges contemporary Mexican identity with pop and contemporary art. Her Skull Series, which began in 2018, continues to evolve and grow every year, exploring the symbolism of the skull through her own contemporary visual language. For “Spirits (Agave) & Stroll”, VIII serves as the curator and brings together haunted works for the season by artists who inspire her and whom she has met and connected with throughout Houston’s art community. The exhibition reflects her interest in creating unexpected connections between culture, contemporary art, and the spirit of gathering and celebration.
