Scott White: Curiouser and Curiouser

Sawyer Yards is pleased to announce Curiouser and Curiouser, a solo exhibition of new works by Silos artist, Scott White. The show takes place in the Bay 300 Gallery of the Silos at Sawyer Yards, and is free and open to the public Monday through Saturday, from 9-5pm.

The artist writes:

"With their eight arms covered in suction cups and their probing eyes, octopi are curious and intriguing creatures. I am fascinated with the way they move and their sense of curiosity and wonder about the world they inhabit. I enjoy placing them in scenarios that may seem out of place. I hope that upon closer study and observation of my imagery, viewers might open their imagination and realize that maybe it’s not so far-fetched.

I create hand crafted relief prints. In this digital world my process is deliberately analog. It would be easy to create a digital image for carving and creating screens for printing but I feel that lacks the aesthetic and feel of a handmade piece of art. Small variances and imperfections make each print unique and special. I believe art should be fun and uplifting. This is why I try and create pieces that make people smile."
