Please join us for the opening of Casa de Cultura: The Living Archive—a night of music, food, drinks, celebration, and gathering. Enjoy live performances by Itzcoatl Tezkatlipoka Aztec Danza, music by Pachuco Boogie Sound System, and the premiere of Luz y Sombra, the first of two core photography exhibitions on display during the 8-week residency.
On view until August 6, Luz y Sombra is a curated selection of music photography from the archives of Violeta Alvarez, including her early work with Justice Records and her ongoing documentation of artists across genres. The work reflects the importance of cultural identity, visibility, and representation for women of color in the music industry, both in front of and behind the camera.
