Artist KOKO unveils a series of new work that explores the tension between nature and industry, delicacy and force, memory and futurism. Through abstract florals, organic textures, and industrial materials, she creates visual dialogues that traverse time, weaving together fragments of the past with imagined futures. Nostalgia Noveau, KOKO's first exhibition, offers an intimate look into her world of convergence, contrast, and renewal.
Join KOKO for a public reception on December 4, from 7-9 pm. Nostalgia Noveau is on view by appointment at in studio C215, at Winter Street Studios (second floor) through January 8, 2026. To visit the show, please contact KOKO at 713-419-1916.
KOKO writes about her work:
"My work lives in the tension between what is delicate and what is enduring. Through layered abstraction, I dismantle and rebuild forms using materials like petals, fragmented found objects, pigments, chemical reactions, and textures to trace how the past continues to exist through the surfaces of the present. I am drawn to dichotomies. I think in collisions . . . where florals meet metal, softness lends itself to structure, and memory imagines the future.
Nostalgia is not a sentiment in my practice; rather, it is an architectural practice. To me, memory builds a bridge between eras to the legacies of humans before us, but most importantly, asks us to dream of our own potential. In each piece, something once lost resurfaces. Something hardened softens. Something fractured begins to regrow."
