Paula Lifschitz

Eugenics

visit website

Sawyer Yards is pleased to announce Eugenics, a solo exhibition of paintings by Houston artist Paula Lifschitz, addressing the notion of “eugenics as art”. Join the artist for a public reception on September 13, from 12-5 pm in Bay 300 of the Silos at Sawyer Yards.

Paula Lifschitz is focusing on drawing attention to the eugenics experiments that are quietly permeating our technologically and scientifically advanced society in this new work. With a whimsical, artistic style blending art, science, and genetic mutations; she presents various fantastical animals that show the hybridization of various distinct traits fused into one mythical creature after another. What endgame do these eugenics experiments have? What are the scientists trying to achieve? What is the perfect earthly specimen? What will our world look like when they achieve their mission?

The exhibition is on view in the Bay 300 Gallery, at the east end of the Silos at Sawyer Yards studio building through September 27, 2025.

About the Artist:

Paula Lifschitz is a locally based artist with a studio at the Silos in the Sawyer Yards complex. She has participated in group and solo art shows in New York City, Miami, Philadelphia, Buenos Aires, London, L.A, and Houston. Lifschitz will also be showing in the SXSW Satellite Art Show in Austin in September of 2025, and in the Parallax Art Fair in Los Angeles in April of 2026. Most recently, she participated in an artist residency in Greece this summer, and she has been invited to live in a French chateau next spring for her second career artist residency.
