Con Sangre y Corazón - Portrait of Our Community

visit website

Following the close of Luz y Sombra, join us for the opening of Con Sangre y Corazón, the residency's second core photography exhibition. Enjoy music by DJ Simmer Down of Chicano Boulevard as we mark the remaining 4 weeks of the residency.

On view through August 22, Con Sangre y Corazón showcases portraits created during the live community photo sessions held throughout July—Danza: Guardians of Ancestral Tradition; Native Soul; Trenzas: Woven with Pride and Resistance; and Aquí Estoy, I’m Here—alongside other works from Alvarez’s archive.

Together, these works reflect the wide breadth of communities represented within Mesoamerican culture while forming a collective portrait of presence, resilience, and belonging.
