Brian Edwards Jr: On My Way Home

Sawyer Yards is pleased to announce On My Way Home, a solo exhibition by Houston artist Brian Edwards Jr. The exhibition will occupy Gallery 100, in Bay 100 of the Silos at Sawyer Yards studio building at 1502 Sawyer. A public reception for the artist will take place on June 2, 6:00 - 8:00 pm.

The artist writes: "What does home mean to you?"

"I dedicated the last two years of my life to discovering that answer through the exploration and documentation of the Black West. I was born and raised in Texas, and the Black cowboy has been an instrumental figure not only for my community but on American soil since the 1800s. This culture has undeniably helped shape and build this country from lifestyle, to craftsmanship, to building legacy and exemplifying resilience. This photographic exhibition invites you into a rich and layered tradition that is upheld by ranchers, cowboys, cowgirls, and other surrounding elements of Black western life. This collection is a visual representation that home is a place where you can find everything you need. On My Way Home welcomes you to uncover what home means for you."
