An Evening of Sound and Verse
- Friday, Apr 17, 2026 6pm - 8pm
Silver Street Studios2000 Edwards Street
This interdisciplinary performance is inspired by the exhibition Global Visions – FotoFest at 40, on view at Sawyer Yards through May 10, 2026. Presented by FotoFest in collaboration with ALMAAHH, this performance takes place within the exhibition itself, allowing live music and poetry to commingle with impactful photography. The Biennial 2026, Global Visions – FotoFest at 40, celebrates four decades of groundbreaking photographic arts and education programming in Houston, Texas.
Curated by FotoFest co-founder and former artistic director Wendy Watriss, executive director Steven Evans, and co-curators Annick Dekiouk and Madi Murphy, the namesake central exhibition of the Biennial 2026 dives deeply into the international and local archives of FotoFest’s 40-year legacy. It reconstitutes the organization’s widely praised exhibitions, publications, and citywide photo and mixed-media presentations that have defined the organization’s pioneering history.
