The Memory of Matter

visit website

The world is full of records that no one intended to keep.

A layer of sediment. A weathered surface. A scar in wood. The traces of a vanished atmosphere preserved within ice.

Long before humans began writing history, matter was already recording it.

In The Memory of Matter, artists Jatziri Barron and Angela Corson explore the marks left by time, pressure, growth, decay, and transformation. Moving between the organic and the constructed, the exhibition considers memory not as something stored, but as something embodied. The Memory of Matter is on view through July 27, in the West Gallery of Silver Street Studios.

About the Artists:

Jatziri Barron is a Mexican visual artist and muralist based in Houston, Texas. Through painting and public art, she explores themes of identity, memory, belonging, and human connection. Her work combines vibrant color and symbolism to examine the invisible ties between people, places, and experiences.

Angela Alvarado Corson is a Houston-based artist whose work explores materiality, transformation, and the passage of time. Through sculpture and mixed media, she investigates the relationship between the organic and the constructed, creating works that reflect on balance, change, and the histories embedded within materials.
