I am a narrative painter with an emphasis on figurative subjects. Dreamscapes: with inspiration often originating in a dream, I bring my paintings to life almost unconsciously with a rapid application of paint. Then with layer upon layer of refinement I complete the piece. I acknowledge the transformative and richly magical quality of the unconscious mind and endorse the use of metaphor and symbolism, which is unrestricted by time and space. Combining these basic principles with an often-healthy dose of humor, use of anachronism and appropriation, I create for myself a full and potent tool chest from which to work.
