Artist Statement:
I see art as a powerful tool for transformation, restoration, and perspective. When we choose to live with a work of art, we establish a connection—not only with the piece itself but with the ideas and intentions behind it. It becomes part of one’s environment, shaping the atmosphere and adding dimension to everyday life.

In my work, elements of structure, ritual, and emotional nuance emerge through a visual language shaped by both romantic and archetypal influences. The creative process itself is immersive, yet liminal—requiring patience, focus, and a genuine curiosity.

Ultimately, my paintings aim to bring clarity to complexity—balancing opposing forces and allowing space for interpretation. I hope viewers and collectors are able to connect with the work on their own terms, and in doing so, access a sense of stillness or resonance that reflects their own creative potential.

Bio:
Meribeth Privett is a Houston-based intuitive artist whose work is grounded in the principles of abstract expressionism. Her paintings represent a harmonious interplay between the spiritual and the material, seamlessly integrating these dimensions into a unified artistic vision. Known for her distinctive and often unexpected use of color, Meribeth’s work exudes a sense of mystery and depth. Inspired by a profound commitment to personal growth and transformation, she channels these themes into each piece, creating art that brings beauty, healing, and inspiration to the environments we inhabit every day.

In my painting, romance is not dead: There is love. There is ritual. There is courtship. There is the patience that I’ve known only in my deepest, most committed intimate relationships. Like an intimate partner, I feel a sense of loyalty, fascination and commitment to my art; it’s a beautiful love affair. My paintings represent bringing order to chaos – a unification of the masculine and the feminine. My hope is to allow my collectors to transport themselves to the place of creativity when the piece was painted and remind them that they, too, have the capacity to access this realm.
