Alison Donaldson Art
Collage / Mixed Media
The Silos at Sawyer Yards
Texture, bold colors and intricate details are what I strive for in my mixed media pieces, collages and paper weavings. I love letting my artwork come together organically and rarely have a "plan" until almost at the very end. I am happiest surrounded by scraps of paper and creating new ways to to shape it all back together. I work in variety of media including (but never limited to) acrylics, watercolor, pastels and resin.
I am largely self-taught, however, I give my mom (who was an accomplished artist her whole life) credit for most of my artistic tendencies. She taught me to have fun with art and to always follow my instincts. I received my bachelors degree in Journalism from Texas A&M University and worked in marketing prior to taking the leap to stay at home with our growing boys and pursue my love of art.
I love working collaboratively on custom sizes, colors and designs through commissioned pieces. In addition, I often work with clients to repurpose and up-cycle your own children's artwork into unique and modern works with a very personal story. More information on that option can be found under "children's art reimagined" on my website.
